The Pre-College Math & Science Institute Program is a two week residential program for incoming fall 2008 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade high school students. WVSU offers participants the opportunity to experience campus life and to engage in a wide range of activities that are both educational and enjoyable.

Who Is Eligible?
Students who enjoy and excel in science and math courses will be strong candidates for the Pre-College Math & Science Program. In exchange for your willingness to learn and grow, we can provide you with a better sense of direction for the future. If you are interested in applying, see if you meet the guidelines below.
- Entering 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade middle/high school students
- Female and minority students are encouraged to apply
- Interested in a career in math and/or science
What To Expect
The curriculum will expose students to college level math and enhance their math skills by:
- Academic enhancement activities.
- Field trips and student projects.
- On-Campus educational and recreational activities.
Program Activities
- Field trips to fascinating math and science sites, such as the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, WV, and research centers at Marshall University and WVU
- Projects that promote hands-on learning and team work
- Guest speakers who will discuss their work and field questions from students
- Numerous on campus educational and recreational activities
